Research technician position in antibody engineering for pediatric oncology

We are looking for a motivated research technician with experience in antibody engineering to join the Janda group. The Janda group pursues various projects to leverage proteins and antibody engineering for innovative approaches to diagnose and treat childhood cancer. This includes the generation of antibodies and antibody fragments against newly identified cancer-associated antigens for the Máxima CAR T-cell Program and non-invasive immunoPET imaging for the Máxima Theranotics Program. You will have a critical role in isolating and preparing antibodies and proteins, as well as faciliate other researchers to engineer new CARs ad radiotracers.

Profile

  • A BSc or MSc degree in biochemistry, molecular biology, or related discipline, and 3-5 years of work experience after graduation.
  • Experience in phase display or yeast display to isolate antibody fragments is essential.
  • Experience in recombinant protein expression in mammalian and bacterial cells, protein purification using the AKTA-FPLC system (affinity, ion exchange, and size exclusion chromatography) is a strong plus.
  • Teamwork and teaching students and other researchers will be am important part of your daily work.
  • Strong motivation, attention to detail, and flexibility are critical.
  • Excellent English writing and verbal communication skills are required.

Our job offer

We offer a full-time position (based on 36 hours a week) in a very stimulating and interactive research environment. You will also have the opportunity to actively collaborate with different groups, and the CAR T-cell and Theranostics Programs at the Princess Máxima Center. You will initially be appointed for a period of 1 year with a possible extension. Your gross monthly salary will depend on experience and background, starting in scale 45 with a maximum of €3.824,- gross a month based on a fulltime position (36 hours). You also receive 8,33% gross monthly salary holiday allowance and 8,33% end-of-year bonus. The Princess Máxima Center operates according to the collective labour agreement ‘cao algemene ziekenhuizen’.
