We are seeking a motivated and skilled Senior Research Technician with experience in antibody engineering to join the Antibody and Protein Facility at the Princess Máxima Center for Pediatric Oncology.
The position
Our facility collaborates with multiple research groups to harness protein and antibody engineering for innovative strategies in the diagnosis and treatment of childhood cancer. Key projects include the development of antibodies and antibody fragments (e.g., VHHs) targeting newly identified cancer-associated antigens, with applications in CAR T-cell therapy and PET radiotracer design. In addition, we pursue the engineering of signaling pathway modulators—such as those acting on Wnt and integrin pathways—with a focus on regenerative medicine. In this role, you will play a central part in the isolation, production, and functional characterization of antibodies and protein-based modulators across multiple collaborative research efforts.
Your Qualifications and Responsibilities
- You hold a BSc or MSc degree in biochemistry, molecular biology, or a related discipline, with more than 5 years of relevant work experience post-graduation.
- You have hands-on experience with recombinant protein expression in mammalian systems (e.g., Expi293 or ExpiCHO) and protein purification using the AKTA-FPLC system, including affinity, ion exchange, and size exclusion chromatography.
- Experience with library-based antibody engineering (e.g., yeast or phage display) or CAR T-cell engineering is a strong asset.
- You enjoy working in a collaborative team environment and are willing to mentor PhD students and other researchers as part of your daily responsibilities.
- You are highly motivated, detail-oriented, and able to work independently as well as within a team.
- Excellent written and spoken communication skills in English are essential.
