Pediatric Hemato-Oncologist

The Princess Máxima Center for pediatric oncology is the largest pediatric comprehensive cancer center in Europe. Our ultimate goal is to cure every child with cancer, with optimal quality of life. An important focus of our center lies on hemato-oncology to improve treatment of children and adolescents with hematological malignancies.

The hemato-oncology program at the Princess Máxima Center is seeking an enthusiastic Pediatric Hemato-Oncologist with a dedicated interest in hemato-oncology to join our well-established and innovative national practice.  

Our hemato-oncology program sees over 250 newly diagnosed patients per year. All patients are discussed in 2 tumorboards, one focused on lymphoma and histiocytosis  patients (including pathology and imaging) and one focused on leukemias (including advance molecular diagnostics). Clinical research activities are coordinated via M4C (M4C HCT and immunotherapy, M4C-ALL, M4C Lymphoma research meeting, M4C for Stem Cell Disorders and Myeloid Malignancies, M4C AML research meeting).

As a Pediatric Hemato-Oncologist you will:  

  • Diagnose and treat children with hematological malignancies (including stem cell transplantation);
  • Have an interest in developing a specific clinical (and translational) focus in the area of Langerhans cell histiocytosis and other histiocytoses;
  • Be actively involved in at least one of our tumor working groups (M4C groups) and contribute to the various ongoing clinical studies in our center;
  • Contribute to the training of other healthcare professionals;
  • Engage with continuous professional development.

Although the main focus of practice will be pediatric hematology-oncology, responsibilities may also include periodic general oncology care when on service or covering call. We are looking for a Pediatric Hemato-Oncologist who is able to work across our two teams in general hemato-oncology and stem cell transplantation (the precise remit to be discussed and to be worked out together with the selected candidate).

Qualifications

  • BIG registration;
  • Dutch Board Eligible/Certified in Pediatrics and Pediatric Hemato-Oncology;
  • Demonstrable training in research, evidenced by a PhD and/or (international) publications, is a bonus;
  • An ambitious and compassionate Pediatric Hemato-Oncologist;
  • A resilient, persevering, reflective, responsible, and inquisitive person; and a team player;
  • Aspiring to belong to the international top in pediatric hematology-oncology (clinical expert role).

The Princess Máxima Center for pediatric oncology  

At the Princess Máxima Center, all types of childhood cancer are treated. Our clinical portfolio includes immunotherapy (antibody-based; CAR T cells), stem cell transplantation and an active early phase clinical therapies program. To accelerate the development of cellular immunotherapy we are currently establishing a GMP facility within our center. We use extensive molecular diagnostics in a clinical as well as in a research context, including single cell genomics, whole transcriptome, and whole exome sequencing.

Furthermore, we foster a child/family-centered culture with specific attention to psychosocial, supportive and palliative care (Quality of Life).

Compensation and Benefits

In accordance with the collective labor agreement CAO AMS (Employment conditions Medical Specialist), the salary is minimum of €7.196,- and maximum of €12.823,- gross per month for a full-time working week (45 hours). Your gross monthly salary will depend on experience and background, complemented by 8,33% gross monthly salary holiday allowance and compensation for on-call services.
