Organoid technology can offer unprecedented insight into patient-specific disease processes, including response to treatment. The Rios group applies various organoid models for different types of cancer to identify new leads for treatment and to better understand and improve the mode-of-action of T cell therapies. Patient-derived organoid (PDO) biobanks obtained from tumor biopsy material can be cultured and maintained in vitro, while retaining critical features of the original tumor. They, thereby, offer an experimental window into inter- and intra-patient heterogeneity in treatment response. In addition, healthy tissue organoids genetically engineered to express tumor mutations occurring in patients can offer a unique view into early tumor progression.
Your profile
We are looking for a highly motivated research assistant (RA) with a collaborative nature, a strong affinity for cell culture and excellent organizational skills. Experience with organoid technologies is considered highly advantageous for this position. Wet-lab activities include organoid culturing, development of co-cultures with T cells and other cell types and preparing imaging experiments. You will take responsibility for the development of a new patient-derived organoid (PDO) biobank using clinical samples. These organoids need to be carefully maintained in culture and biobanked in a well-documented fashion.
What we offer
You will work within a multidisciplinary team at the forefront of advancing immune-oncology strategies for cancer treatment, using the latest developments in organoid technology, multi-spectral 3D imaging and multi-omics data integration.
We offer a temporary, full-time position (36 hours per week) for 1 year that can be extended after the first contract period. Your gross monthly salary will depend on experience level (research assistant (RA) entrance level), starting in scale 45 with 8,33% gross monthly salary holiday allowance and 8,33% end-of-year bonus. The Princess Máxima Center operates according to the collective labor agreement ‘cao algemene ziekenhuizen’.
