The transplant team and the Nierkens Group are seeking an enthusiastic and highly motivated MD PhD candidate with a keen interest in Cell Therapy and Hematopoietic Cell Transplantation.
Our team
Our mission is to optimize outcomes for cell therapies. We specifically focus on the function of immune cells over time in children undergoing hematopoietic cell transplantation or receiving immune therapy, such as CAR T-cells, and associate these data with clinical outcome parameters. One of the attractive approaches is through fine-tuning the systemic exposure to immunodepleting drugs in the conditioning regimen.
Research Project
This position is part of a KIKA-funded, four year clinical trial project aimed at optimizing fludarabine exposure of children receiving CAR T-cells with the goal of improving CAR T-cell expansion resulting in a lower incidence of CD19 positive relapses. Managing a multicenter trial as well as learning to model systemic drug exposures in CAR T and HCT patients is part of this PhD project. The PhD is embedded in the Nierkens lab.
The preferred starting time would be February/March 2025.
