The Princess Máxima Center for Pediatric Oncology is a new nationwide research hospital concentrating healthcare, research and education with regard to cancer in children and is located in Utrecht, Utrecht Science Park. The institute has the ambition to give the best treatment to children with cancer with the highest cure rate and the least side effects to (often complex) anti-cancer treatment. The center brings together the best possible care and scientific research, creating a unique interdisciplinary institute for pediatric oncology in Europe. The research group of Prof dr Huitema / Dr. L.M. Hanff focuses on clinical pharmacology of anticancer treatment and medication used in supportive care with the overarching ambition to give the optimal dose of these drugs to all children.
As a postdoc within the pharmacology research group you will initiate and conduct pharmacology research projects, aimed at bringing personalised treatment to the patient.
Initiating, building and coordinating the drug research laboratory will be part of your responsibility.
You will act as a link between pharmacological research, the pharmacy and other research groups in Maxima. In collaboration with the PI, you will write grant applications, guide PhD students, and realize scientific output.
Education and skills
We are looking for a highly motivated postdoc with an interest in Pediatric Oncology, and a background in pharmacy, (bio)pharmaceutical sciences or equivalent training. Experience with chromographic techniques is a plus. The candidate should be able to work independently, seize opportunities and show initiative. The core values of the Maxima (groundbreaking and passionate) needs to apply to the candidate. A high level of scientific thinking/writing is needed as well as excellent organization and collaboration skills.
We offer a full time position (36 hours/week) as a postdoc in an inspiring and inter-disciplinary research environment. You will start on a temporary position for the duration of one year that -when satisfactory- will be extended.
Your gross monthly salary will depend on experience and background, starting in scale FWG 60 of FWG 65 (depending on knowledge and experience) with 8,33% gross monthly salary holiday allowance and 8,33 % end-of-year bonus. The Princess Máxima Center operates according to the collective labour agreement ‘CAO algemene ziekenhuizen’.
