Volunteers

Volunteers play a valuable role in the daily lives of children with cancer and their families at the Princess Máxima Center. By providing extra attention, relaxation, and practical support, they complement the professional care. Often, it is the small gestures that make the biggest difference.

Making a difference with attention, time and commitment

Volunteers are active in various areas of the Máxima Center. They provide distraction, help children and families find their way, and assist with activities at the Máxima Center. In addition to Máxima Center volunteers, who can be recognized by their blue vests, volunteers from partner organizations such as Make-a-Wish, Ronald McDonald House Utrecht, Muziekids, and the Dutch Childhood Cancer Association also contribute. Together, they help create a warm and welcoming environment.

The impact of volunteers

Volunteering at the Máxima Center is personal and meaningful. You are close to the child and family during an intense period and provide calm, distraction, and a listening ear. Whether you are crafting together, reading, accompanying them to appointments, or simply being there, your efforts help make daily life as normal as possible.

Together involved

The team consists of volunteers from various backgrounds and age groups, united by a desire to make a difference for children with cancer. Through introduction, guidance, and shared moments, volunteers feel welcome and well-prepared for their role.

Volunteers always work in coordination with care professionals and are part of a close-knit, engaged volunteer team. Good guidance, collaboration, and attention to each other create a safe and pleasant environment.
