Nurse Practitioners & Physician Assistants
At the Princess Máxima Center, nurse specialists (NS), physician assistants (PA), pediatric oncologists, and many other healthcare professionals work together toward a single goal: to cure every child with cancer, with optimal quality of life. In pediatric oncology, we combine medical, nursing, and psychosocial expertise, always keeping the child and their family at the center of care.
Joint responsibility for highly complex care for children with cancer
Care is organized around several specialties, including hematology-oncology, solid tumors, and neuro-oncology. Each specialty has its own conditions and treatments, but together they form a single integrated care process under one roof. As a nurse specialist or physician assistant, you contribute to the continuity, quality, and development of care.
What makes working as a nurse specialist or physician assistant at the Princess Máxima Center unique?
Working in pediatric oncology is intensive, complex, and professionally challenging. It requires specialized knowledge, clinical insight, and the willingness to take responsibility. At the Máxima Center, nurse specialists and physician assistants have the space to shape their role independently and with confidence, always in close collaboration with the pediatric oncologist and the multidisciplinary team. Teams consist of permanent professionals who know each other well.
Who does what?
Growing, learning, and developing
Pediatric oncology is a specialized field where learning never stops. The Máxima Center offers training positions for nurse specialists and physician assistants and supports professional development even after completing the training.
Collaboration is central to this approach. By sharing knowledge and supporting each other, we continuously improve care for children with cancer and their families.
