Care & Research Support

At the Princess Máxima Center, everything revolves around one mission: to cure every child with cancer, with optimal quality of life. This requires not only specialized care and research, but also colleagues who ensure that care and the processes behind it run smoothly every day. Within Care and Research Support, colleagues personally guide children and their parents, coordinate administrative and logistical processes, manage schedules, and make sure everything ends up in the right place. Together, they form the connecting link between the child and family and care and research.

What makes working within Care and Research Support unique?

Children and their families visit us regularly. Over time, something special develops: recognition. Knowing who someone is, how the previous visit went, how the birthday party was. That continuity means our colleagues are more than a point of contact, they become familiar faces during an intense treatment process.

At every stage of the care pathway, our staff members are an essential link. They are approachable and maintain oversight in an environment that asks a great deal of the child and family. Through their consistent presence and personal involvement, they create calm and trust. That familiar face, that steady point of contact, makes a difference at every visit. At the same time, they serve as the link between all processes. They ensure appointments run smoothly, treatment rooms operate efficiently, information reaches the right place, and care professionals can focus on their work.

Within Care and Research Support, different roles come together, each contributing to optimal care and research. Whether it is planners who efficiently organize patient appointments and staff schedules, medical assistants who are part of the team to ensure treatment is carried out carefully, medical secretaries who support care professionals, phlebotomy staff who are familiar faces for children and parents, or facilities service staff who keep the parent-child rooms clean and stocked, everyone plays a role in the bigger picture. The focus is always on the child and family, while also ensuring that the processes needed to provide care run smoothly.

The impact of your work
